Our Exclusive Itinerary

On Day 1, your journey begins at Brisbane Roma Street Train Station where you’ll check in for your departure on Queensland Rail’s The Spirit of the Outback. The train is scheduled to depart at 14:40 pm, offering you ample time to settle in and explore its amenities. As you embark on this iconic rail journey, take in the scenic views of Queensland’s landscapes rolling past your window. Later in the evening, enjoy a delicious dinner onboard, included as part of your experience. Relax and unwind as you anticipate the adventure ahead, preparing for a comfortable night’s sleep onboard the train. This marks the start of your memorable journey through the Queensland outback, promising both relaxation and exploration in equal measure.

DINNER INCLUDED

Today, you’ll continue your journey on Queensland Rail’s The Spirit of the Outback, traveling from Brisbane to Longreach. Begin your morning with a leisurely breakfast onboard as the train rolls through the Queensland countryside. Throughout the day, take advantage of the onboard amenities and enjoy lunch served as part of your journey experience. As you approach Longreach around 16:30 pm, indulge in a light snack onboard before arrival.

Upon arrival in Longreach, approximately at 16:30 pm, disembark and take a short 10-minute walk to your hotel to check in. Settle into your accommodation and unwind from your journey. The evening is yours to enjoy at your own pace. Alternatively, you’re welcome to join us at the local pub for a light dinner and a drink, where you can relax and soak in the local atmosphere. Whether you choose to explore on your own or join us, Longreach offers a charming backdrop for your evening in the outback.

BREAKFAST, LUNCH & LIGHT SNACK INCLUDED

Start your day with a group breakfast to fuel up for an exciting day ahead. After breakfast, we will head to the Stockman’s Hall of Fame where you’ll explore the museum and galleries, gaining insights into the iconic stockman’s life through exhibits and the “Outback Live Show.” Immerse yourself in the history and culture of the outback with visits to the Cinema and the Unsung Heroes’ Gallery.

In the afternoon, prepare for a unique experience with the Starlight’s Cruise. Embark on a leisurely river cruise aboard a paddlewheeler or riverboat, accompanied by insightful commentary from your skipper. Capture stunning photos as the sun sets over the outback landscape.

Later, enjoy a 2-course stockman’s dinner served by the campfire, complete with traditional bush entertainment. Witness the enchanting Starlight’s Spectacular Sound & Light Picture Show on the riverbank, followed by billy tea and damper with golden syrup. This evening provides a perfect opportunity to gaze at the star-filled outback sky on a clear night, creating lasting memories of your time in Longreach.

BREAKFAST & DINNER INCLUDED

Our fourth day in Longreach begins with a hearty breakfast before embarking on the Nogo Station Experience. As we journey through Longreach, our coach provides fascinating insights into the town’s sights. Upon arrival at Nogo Station, we switch to an open-topped, double-decker, overlander bus, offering superb views throughout our station tour. We explore the historic woolsheds, learn about the Merino story, and meet the Merinos up close. The tour also includes the essential ‘Water-run,’ a visit to Captain Starlight’s stockyards, and a recreation of his camp. We encounter Brahman cattle, horses, camels, emus, and wild donkeys before enjoying a saddle-bag lunch under the gum trees.

Our next stop is the Qantas Founders Museum, where we delve into the rich history of Qantas and take an exclusive airport tour, marveling at the 747-400. The day concludes with a group dinner at The Stonegrill® Dining Experience, where we choose our hot-stone meat, fish, or vegetarian option and cook it to perfection at our table, accompanied by an array of sides, salads, and sauces. The evening ends on a sweet note with an all-you-can-eat homestead dessert bar, making it a memorable outback dining experience.

BREAKFAST, LIGHT LUNCH & DINNER INLCUDED

On our fifth and final day in Longreach, we begin with a hearty breakfast before embarking on the Cobb & Co Stagecoach Experience. This nostalgic ride along the original Longreach-Windorah mail route includes informative and entertaining commentary, an exhilarating gallop down a bush track, and a taste of the best outback smoko (morning tea). Following this, we enjoy a family-friendly classic movie with popcorn in a traditional theatrette and are treated to the hilarious Old Time Tent Show. After these delightful experiences, we transfer to the airport for our Qantas flight, departing Longreach at 14:35 and arriving in Brisbane at 16:35, bringing our unforgettable outback adventure to a close.
