“The world is a book and those who do not travel read only a page” – Saint Augustine

Our story begins at the Brisbane airport.  Meeting up with your travel family for the next 7 days, your adventure group leader will ensure everyone is all checked in and ready for boarding, assisting with checking in bags and escorting our group to the gate ready to catch our air chariot to the beautiful destination of Norfolk Island.

Upon arriving to Norfolk, we will be meet and greeted by a team member from Pinetree Tours, who will assist with all luggage care and transfers to our accommodation at the Governor’s Lodge.

Set amongst beautiful sub-tropical gardens, Governors Resort offers self-contained accommodation with a private balcony or patio and flat-screen satellite TV. Your well-appointed, one bedroom, fully serviced room, contains a separate bedroom from the lounge, and front veranda to sip those afternoon wines and relax. All accommodation includes a well-equipped kitchenette with a microwave and refrigerator and some units also have a spa bath. The Governor’s Lodge offers laundry facilities, and the barbecue area is the perfect place for a casual meal. The outdoor café offers locally grown Arabica coffee and a wide range of beers and wines. The property features a swimming pool, a tennis court, and a hot tub. Emily Bay and Mount Pitt lookout are each less than 10 minutes’ drive away.

Join us at 4:30pm for a “Norf’l Langwij Class with Refreshments” hosted by Aata Orn Tours.  Learn some of the unique language brought to Norfolk Island by the Pitcairn Islanders. Hear about the evolution of this marvellous language and the fascinating history of these people. You’ll be saying ‘wataweih’ (hello) in no time!

Then together we celebrate our first night as a group and get to know each other at the Barrow and Bear Welcome Dinner.  Experience a delicious 2 course Meal featuring local produce (1 beverage included) at the Lodges onsite restaurant, “Bailey’s Restaurant”.

Meals – Dinner

Enjoy Breakfast at your leisure. Your Adventure Group Leader will be at the restaurant between 7:30 and 8:30am to dine and chat with you and answer any questions you may have about the upcoming day.

Climb onboard the Pinetrees tour bus for a half day orientation tour, where we will visit historic Kingston, Cascade, Longridge & much more. See & hear about the famous convict buildings, beautiful beaches & golf course, the renowned Melanesian Chapel, Norfolk Government, laws & lifestyle. Enjoy views from scenic spots on this full commentary conducted tour. Rest for a delicious morning tea in the garden of an historic island home built by Fletcher Quintal – descendant of ‘Bounty’ mutineers Fletcher Christian & Matthew Quintal.

The afternoon is free for you to explore the Island or just kick back and relax.

Why not take this opportunity to visit the “Cyclorama”. This is an amazing 360° panoramic painting. A unique way to experience the history of the Bounty adventures and discover how the world’s most famous mutiny created the Pitcairn and Norfolk communities. Visitors walk inside a circular panoramic painting and are surrounded on all sides by the immense artwork. A spectacular 3D effect is achieved with detailed artwork and realistic perspective, creating an incredible illusion of reality for the viewer. Storyboards and background sound effects and music add to the experience making this a highly recommended attraction.

The delightful art gallery, Gallery Guava, is located at the Cyclorama complex and displays a variety of works by Norfolk’s leading artists. Also, next door is the Hilli restaurant offering morning and afternoon teas, lunch, and dinner.

Fletcher’s Mutiny Cyclorama is a self-paced activity which can be viewed at your leisure. Open 7 days a week Monday to Friday 9am – 5pm, Saturday and Sunday 10am – 3pm

Meals – Breakfast

Join us at 7:00am for a refreshing morning of adventure in the great outdoors, followed by a delicious breakfast BBQ!

Our “Breakfast Bushwalk & Clifftop BBQ Tour” has something for everyone with two options to choose from. For those seeking a leisurely stroll, explore the lush Palm Glen Reserve. For the more active, take a leisurely 3.5 km walk through scenic Mt. Bates – the highest point on the island – to Captain Cook Monument. This monument marks the spot where Captain James Cook and his officers landed in 1774 and offers breathtaking views of the coastline.

After the walk, we gather on the clifftop for a scrumptious breakfast BBQ. If you have medical conditions, please note that the walks are not recommended. However, you can still join the walkers at Captain Cook Monument and share in the festivities. Our tour is flexible and caters to all, so come and experience a morning of adventure and delicious food!  Your Adventure Group leader will also be in attendance to answer any questions on the day’s itinerary.

Departing at 7:15pm, the group will be collected from Pinetree Tours Loading Area and journey to our next fantastic experience.  Prepare to be mesmerized by the Sound and Light Show tour, an absolute must-see immersive experience that will leave you with a newfound appreciation for the island’s history. Plunge yourself in the captivating and spine-chilling tales of the island’s past and witness firsthand the stories of the brave souls who lived through the dark and terrifying decades of the island’s convict history.

As the night falls on Kingston, the historic Convict Settlement on Norfolk Island takes on an eerie atmosphere that is a world away from its daytime charm. The stars twinkle overhead just as they did when the first settlers arrived in 1788, but with the help of real-life sounds, theatrical lighting, and costumed actors, the show brings to life the horror and drama of Norfolk Island’s convict era. (Please be aware this tour does include flashing lights)

The experience lasts approximately 1 hour and guests will be dropped off at the Pinetree Tours Loading Area upon conclusion.

Meals – Breakfast

Enjoy Breakfast at your leisure. Your Group Adventure Leader will be at the restaurant between 7:30 and 8:30am to dine and chat with you and answer any questions you may have about the upcoming day.

Our adventures today take us to Two Chimneys Wines, the first and only winery in Norfolk Island. In May 2002, Rod, Noelene and Sarlae Buffett McAlpine explored the opportunity of establishing a Boutique Vineyard on the eastern side of Norfolk Island.  In 2003 they planted their first vines on family (Buffett) land at Steeles Point and commenced “Two Chimneys Wines”. The vineyard enjoys a soft maritime climate and volcanic basalt soils.

The vineyard consists of five varietals, Chardonnay, Semillion, Verdelho, Merlot, Chambourcin. The property is part of the original grant of land following the arrival of the Pitcairners in 1856.  The family enjoy quality support of many in the wine industry and this is reflected in the wine produced under their own “two Chimneys Wines” label.

The Winery/Cellar Door was officially opened on 13th July 2006.  The building is Norfolk Island style and constructed throughout with Norfolk Island pine.  A well-appointed Cellar Door tasting room with wood fire, opens onto large verandas that overlook the vineyard with eight varieties of grape. Here we will relax and enjoy some wine tasting and a delicious lunch.  Two Chimneys Wines is a quality food and wine experience for visitors and locals alike.

Meals – Breakfast and Lunch

Ahoy sailors! Get your ocean legs on, because today we are off for a “Glaas Bohtom Boets Tour”.

Your Group Adventure Leader will join you for breakfast the restaurant between 7:30 and 8:30am and will be available to answer any questions you may have about the upcoming day.

Our Adventure Group will be collected from Governors Lodge by two Norfolk Islander’s, Donald and George.  The pair will share their knowledge of Norfolk’s unique marine life. Once you’ve ‘walked the plank’ with these ‘mutineer descendants’ it takes 60 seconds (yes one minute!) to be at the reef. View beautiful coral gardens and tropical fish inside the calm crystal waters of Norfolk’s lagoon. Donald and George provide full interesting commentary on this 1 hour environmental tour. With these two you should be prepared for a touch of Norfolk humour.

This evening will be memorable as we gather for a “Progressive Dinner Tour”.  The tour departs at 6:00pm and lasts approximately 3.5 hours.  This is an authentic experience that will give you a firsthand insight into life on Norfolk Island and takes you on a culinary journey through the island’s vibrant community, as you join a group of fellow visitors for a night of food, fun, and unforgettable stories.

Over the course of the evening, you’ll enjoy a delicious 3-course meal, with each course served at a different Norfolk Island family home. As you move from house to house, you’ll learn about the island’s fascinating past and present, and get to know the warm and welcoming locals who call it home. From stories of pioneering families to insights into day-to-day life on Norfolk Island, you’ll come away with a newfound appreciation for this incredible place and its beautiful people.

Each home has been carefully selected to showcase the island’s rich culture and history, and each dinner host has a sensational story to tell. Experience the true flavours of Norfolk Island by indulging in the same mouth-watering dishes that locals enjoy in their homes every day. This is your chance to savour authentic home-cooked meals and learn about the island’s rich culinary traditions from your hosts.

With white wine and juice available and the option to BYO other drinks, you can relax and enjoy the company of your fellow travellers as you dine in some of the island’s most charming and picturesque homes. With tea and coffee included, you’ll have everything you need to make the most of this unforgettable evening.

Meals – Breakfast and dinner

Join your Group Adventure Leader at the restaurant between 7:15 and 8:15am and chat about the upcoming day.

At 8:30am, depart on a “History in the Making Coach Tour”. Be knowledgeably guided through four historic settlements on Norfolk Island. Learn of early Polynesian arrivals, followed by European occupation (two successive settlements), culminating in the migration of the Bounty descendants from Pitcairn Island to Norfolk Island in 1856. This morning tour travels through the World Heritage inscribed, Kingston and Arthur’s Vale Historic Area. Enjoy a short explanatory walk through the ruins of the old gaol. Visit an island home and see a demonstration of hands on crafts, such as shingle and rope making. View a private museum collection which includes unique Norfolk Island artefacts and learn how Pitcairn settlers made Norfolk Island their home, before returning to the Governor’s Lodge around 12noon.

Dinner tonight departs at 4:45pm from the Pinetrees Loading Area. Get ready for a night of delicious food, live music, and stunning views on Norfolk Island! The “Island Fish Fry” is the must-do event for anyone visiting the island, and it’s not hard to see why.

For over 40 years, this incredible event has been serving up a feast of local dishes, salads, and homemade coconut bread, all topped off with mouth-watering fried fish that will leave you wanting more. But the food is just the beginning – the real magic happens as the sun sets over the stunning coastal scenery. While we can’t guarantee a sunset, you’re guaranteed an amazing view.

With a new clifftop bar area offering the best views of the sunset, you can sip on your drink of choice and take in the breathtaking scenery while enjoying live music and the company of other guests. And with dishes like ‘Pilhi’ (savoury banana slice), ‘Ana’ (a special sweet potato mash with local herbs), coconut bread, and delicious coconut pie and cream for dessert, your taste buds will be in heaven.

After your feast, sit back and relax as the Baunti Byuutis dancing group takes the stage to entertain you with their captivating local performances. This unforgettable evening takes place on our exclusive Western Side property ‘Orn Dar Cliff,’ ensuring that you have the best possible experience from start to finish. Wine and beer are available for purchase, or you can bring your own drinks to enjoy with the delicious food and entertainment. Your will then return to the Pinetrees Loading Area at approximately 7:15pm.

Meals – Breakfast & Dinner

The excitement doesn’t stop just because it’s the last full day on the island. Enjoy a hearty breakfast with your Group Adventure Leader at the restaurant between 7:30 and 8:30am. They will be available to assist and answer any questions you may have about the upcoming day.

At 1:15pm meet at the Burnt Pine Accommodation/Baunti Tours Office, to depart for approximately 2 hours on the “Colleen McCullough Tour”.

Colleen McCullough was an Australian novelist who worked in a range of genres but was best known for her second novel, the sweeping romance The Thorn Birds, and for her Masters of Rome series, a painstakingly researched fictionalized account of Rome in the age of Julius Caesar. She was born on 1 June 1937 in Wellington, New South Wales, Australia and died on 29 January 2015 in Burnt Pine, Norfolk Island, Australia

The Colleen McCullough Tour gives you a glimpse into the life of this modern-day literary icon. The world-renowned author called Norfolk Island home for almost 36 years. She and husband, Norfolk Islander, Ric Robinson, created a luxurious hideaway here. They maintained their privacy to ensure Colleen had the perfect environment for her writing. And it worked, she created some of her most powerful titles in their little sanctuary. Her beloved property “Out Yenna” is now open exclusively to Baunti Tours customers. Our escorted tour will take you through her magnificent home, see where Colleen worked on her novels. In addition, you’ll get to view Ric and Colleen’s priceless collection of artefacts gathered on their travels all over the world. Colleen authored some 27 books during her lifetime, and was half way through another at the time of her passing. Some of the more noteworthy, for instance, include “Tim”, and “Morgan’s Run”. So, if you have read her amazing books, you will love the experience of sharing her world on the Colleen McCullough Tour.

At 4:00pm our Adventure group will be collected from the Governor’s Lodge by the Pinetree Tours bus and transferred to the Ferny Lane Theatre.  Here we will attend “The Trial of the Fifteen” performance by World Traders, and will be an eyewitness to a courtroom drama as fifteen extraordinary characters step on stage to expose Norfolk’s colourful and sometimes turbulent past. The testimony of those on trial reveals the story of Norfolk Island – Polynesian visitation, European discovery, convict misery and the arrival of the Pitcairn Islanders. This highly successful play has been running for over ten years to more than 35,000 visitors. After the show enjoy a chat with the actors, before returning to the Governor’s Lodge.

Then gather together for a farewell dinner at the Bounty Lodge. Share stories about the amazing week over a delicious 2 course dinner (1 beverage included).
