Kaylin Steps Onboard Carnival Encounter

There’s nothing quite like stepping onboard a cruise ship and getting the chance to explore it for yourself!

Recently, I had the opportunity to head onboard Carnival Encounter for a ship inspection and take a closer look at what guests can expect, including some of the changes and upgrades that have been made since the ship joined the Carnival fleet.

What’s New Onboard Carnival Encounter?

One of the biggest updates I learnt about during my visit was the return of the Thermal Suites.

The Thermal Suites had been out of service even before the ship transitioned from P&O Cruises Australia to Carnival, so it was great to hear that these facilities have now been renovated and are getting closer to reopening for guests.

Carnival was still finalising some of the details, including pricing and age restrictions, at the time of my inspection, but once open, the Thermal Suites will provide another great option for guests looking to add a little relaxation to their time onboard.

There have also been a number of smaller updates throughout the ship. The buffet has received a refresh and has returned to its original self-service format, allowing guests to serve themselves once again.

The waterslides have also been refurbished for a smoother and faster ride, while guests may notice newly upholstered seating in the theatre and refreshed carpets throughout parts of the ship, particularly around the Altitude nightclub.

Travelling With Kids?

I also picked up some useful information for families considering a holiday onboard Carnival Encounter.

While parents can indicate during online check-in that they intend to use the children’s services onboard, you’ll still need to visit the Kids Club once onboard to complete the registration process, organise any applicable fees and do a walkthrough before leaving your children in the care of the Carnival team.

Carnival Encounter also welcomes children from as young as six months old, with babysitting services available during selected hours. These services need to be booked, so it’s definitely something families should look into when planning their time onboard.

Let’s Talk Food!

Of course, you can’t inspect a cruise ship without checking out the dining options!

One change previous guests may notice is that Luke’s Bar & Grill has now become Fahrenheit 555, Carnival’s steakhouse restaurant.

There are also a number of specialty dining experiences to choose from onboard, including Bonsai Sushi, Chef’s Table and Trattoria, giving you plenty of options when you feel like enjoying something a little different during your cruise.

Where Would You Find Me Onboard?

If you’re wondering where you’d find me on Carnival Encounter, the answer is pretty easy…

The Oasis area, in the pool and away from all the kids!

It’s definitely where I could see myself spending a relaxing sea day, soaking up the sunshine and enjoying being on holiday.

Is Carnival Encounter Worth Checking Out?

My ship inspection was a great opportunity to see Carnival Encounter up close and learn more about the changes that have been happening onboard.

There’s a great mix of spaces for families, couples and groups of friends, along with plenty of dining, entertainment and areas to simply relax by the pool.

And one of the best things for us Queenslanders? Carnival Encounter sails right from Brisbane, making a cruise holiday that little bit easier.

But my Carnival experience isn’t stopping there!

Next Stop… Carnival Adventure!

This week, I’ll be lucky enough to experience Carnival Encounter’s sister ship, Carnival Adventure, as I embark on a 4-night cruise from Sydney to Moreton Island.

This time, rather than just stepping onboard for an inspection, I’ll have four nights to properly experience life onboard as a guest.

I’m really looking forward to exploring Carnival Adventure, trying out the food, checking out the entertainment and seeing how the two sister ships compare.
